ANHAM USA Partnered with the MPHS Wrestling Team to Fill Military Care Packages.
My name is Sarah Newby, and I am the Lead Contract Billing Specialist for ANHAM USA in the Virginia office. Recently, I had the privilege to partner with the Manassas Park Wrestling Team and help the Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation collect food and supplies to fill military care packages. I worked with coordinator Pam Phipps and the families and friends of the wrestling team in order to provide a little bit of comfort and support to our service men and women who are deployed overseas.
The ANHAM USA employees donated food and supplies at the Virginia office, which were delivered to the wrestling team on November 5, 2016. I was overcome with emotion on when I saw the lines of people waiting to drop off items for the service members. It was rewarding to see so many volunteers who were there to help make this happen. The donated items helped stock over 300 care packages that will eventually be sent to troops abroad. We collected non-perishable food items, personal hygiene items, puzzles, books, and magazines. In every package we included a flyer from the foundation as well as a personal note handwritten by the wrestling team members.

The Douglas J. Green Foundation
The Douglas J. Green Foundation was founded on November 3, 2011 by Suni Erlanger, the Gold Star mother of Spc. Douglas J. Green. Douglas, a local man from Sterling, Virginia died in August 2011 at the age of 23 in the Kandahar Province of Afghanistan due to injuries suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with a RPG. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for valor, posthumously, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

The foundation holds many events, including a special September 11th Care Packing Event at the Las Vegas facility, an Annual DJGMF Golf Tournament at Pleasant Valley Golf Club in Chantilly, Virginia, a KIA Honor Flag event, the Valentine’s Day Letters of Love, and many other Munchies 4 the Military events throughout the United States. Thanking Our Troops
This is the first year that the MPHS Wrestling Team participated in this project, and I know it will now be a tradition for the team going forward. Personally, supporting and feeding our troops is near and dear to my heart because I have been fortunate to have worked with brave men and women in all branches of our armed forces during my career in government contracting, and I know the importance of their selfless mission; they lay their lives on the line for our freedom and our flag. In the two and a half years that I have worked for ANHAM USA, working with our troops has made me even more thankful that these brave men and women are protecting us. They deserve to have a little piece of home sent to them and to know that people do care about them!
