Key Contracts
Afghanistan Technical and Vocational Institute (ATVI)
Afghanistan ($10 Million) – The Afghanistan Technical and Vocational Institute (ATVI) is a coeducational vocational school in Kabul, Afghanistan that provides a comprehensive educational experience for Afghan students. ATVI is a non-profit organization owned by the Afghan Education Fund (AEF). In collaboration with Knowlogy International, ANHAM provided an initial $2,000,000 requirement and subsequently secured $9,278,663 total to build and start the school. ATVI prepares its graduates for roles in key sectors of: agriculture/horticulture, construction, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), vehicle maintenance, and business administration.
ATVI began operations in April 2007 and has since become entirely managed by Afghan citizens. ATVI strives to educate students not just from Kabul and the other major Afghan cities but also from rural provinces in all areas of the country. In addition, special efforts are made to recruit female applicants, specifically for ICT, construction, business management and agriculture/horticulture.
ATVI's first class completed its one-year program in March 2008 with 453 graduates, and the second class of more than 830 students graduated in May 2009. Female enrollment increased from 11% in ATVI's original class to nearly 30% in 2009 and continues to grow. The current class includes 1,500 students, as well as an additional 500 students enrolled in the new satellite campus called ATVI East, located in Laghman.
ATVI is unparalleled in scope and purpose because there are currently no other modern, fully-equipped and staffed schools in Afghanistan offering formal technical training at the post-secondary level. The ATVI facility consists of 30 large classrooms, one library, administrative offices, and seven workshops. The goal of ATVI is eventually to become self-sustaining, supported financially by the labor of skilled ATVI students who have been out-placed to the companies that need them.
Taji National Depot
Iraq ($350 Million) – ANHAM is currently contracted with the Iraq Joint Forces (IJF) and the Iraqi Ministry of Defense (IMOD) to establish a national logistics depot in Taji, Iraq. ANHAM provides depot capabilities and maintenance training for Iraqi military personnel.
As part of this work, ANHAM has set up the Taji Vocational Institute (TVI) and is scheduled to train more than 700 Iraqi Army junior enlisted and warrant officer personnel between 2008 and 2011. Personnel are trained in the purchase and placement of equipment and materials, acceptance testing, commissioning, operation, training operation, sustainment of equipment, and the development and execution of depot processes. At contract completion, ANHAM will transfer all duties, including warehousing and necessary training programs and supplies, to the Iraqi Joint Forces.
